On the Bridge
The short story called On the Bridge by: Todd Strasser is based on friendship. The two protagonists are Adam and Seth they’re both different. Adam is dishonest, party, cool, brave, and a confident person. But Seth is a good kid, coward, and a dishonest person. “Seth kept glancing toward the exit ramp to see if the women the blue car had gotten off. He was really tempted to leave but he stayed because he liked being with Adam. It made him feel good that a cool guy like Adam let him hang around (4)”. They have some crazy, scary days like the one the had that day on the bridge.
The thesis is that friendship is stronger than any other thing in the world. These are three quotes that represent some examples of Adam helping his friend Seth.” I tried to help,” Adam said, “but one of them held a knife on me (5).” “You want a hand?” Adam asked (5). “ I’ll get those guys for you, man,” Adam said (6). These are examples showing Adam cares about Seth feelings even though Adam started the problem.
The rising action in the story is when Adam decides to act cool and throw the cigarette out the car window. But by mistake he hits a car in which 3 tough guys are on. This is what causes the fight between Seth and the three guys. "He held the butt of his cigarette between his thumb and his middle finger and flicked it over the side of the bridge and down into the traffic. With a burst of red sparks it hit the windshield of a black car passing below. Adam turned and grinned. Seth smiled back uncomfortably. He was beginning to wonder how far would Adam would go (4)”. This is an example showing that Seth didn’t like what Adam did but instead of leaving he stayed and got in trouble. Adam and Seth had to face the consequences.
The conflict in the story is man vs. man. Adam and Seth decide to act cool, and Adam throws his cigarette out the car window. What he doesn’t notice is that he hits the black car behind him. “Seth didn’t notice it until he heard a door slam. He turned and saw three big guys getting out of the car. Seth suddenly decided it was time to go, but he quickly realized that the three guys spread out, cutting of any way to escape. He and Adam were surrounded. This was when one of three guys grabbed Seth and made him lick the windshield. Then Adam decides to help his friend and they resolve the problem.
My opinion of this story is that I love it because it was based on friendship and how it lasts forever. Even though Adam blames Seth for what he did it wasn’t because he wanted to run away but it was because he had a plan on how to get away with it. I really liked the turning point because I thought at first that Adam was going to leave Seth pay for his consequences but he didn’t. I think this story is a must read because it really nice and wonderful.

Free Write
On Sunday I had a really long and important test I had to take. I had studied all week for it. When Sunday came I got to Hunter College but there was a really big line. At first I was the last one, but then I got to the front of the line. While I was there I saw Darwin, he asked me if I was going tot take the test I said "yes". While I was taking the test I was really nervous of failing the test. The test I had to take was for a program called a better chance it’s supposed to help you get into a private high school and a good college. I hope I get a really high score. I had to get at least 1,350 points to get an interview for the program. The test was about 3 hours long and we had some breaks. While I was in the school taking the test I got to see how big the school was. It was pretty big. I also saw some cheer leaders entering the school. The test was pretty hard. The hardest part for me was the verbal section. It was a section where you had to choose the right words that fitted best in the sentence/s. The first 5 words were really hard to understand but I used some strategies. One strategy I used was the Spanish speaking skills. Some words had a Spanish word in them that helped me look for a synonym. Another strategy I used was word charge. The last strategy was to look for a good/bad word. I used word roots. The math section was easy even though it had some tricky questions. I hope I passed the test.

Free Write
I wish I hadn't said anything to my father. But I had to it been the only way I would pay. My dad's in jail now thanks to me. I didn't expect him to react like this. The police takes me too because I am a witness. I tell the police lady everything that happened.
"I was at a party and my boyfriend wanted to sleep with me but I didn't want to. He decided to rape me. My life was ruin by then. After that I got pregnant and told him he was the father. But he said he wasn't and dumped me. I told my father and he said that we had to marry but he didn't want to. This is why my dad got crazy and killed him."
The police officer said, "Your boyfriend is still alive."
"What", I said.
" He got hurt but is alive, she said.
My dad is taken to jail and is sentence 8 years. I go home and talk to my friend on the phone. I go to sleep all alone at home. The next day I go to school and see Harold he's they’re talking bad about my dad. I get my gun out and shot him. I shot him 3 times to make sure he's dead. I couldn't let him not pay for what he did to me. Students called the police and they take me to jail. I'm with my dad at least waiting for my baby to be born. My dad asks me if I'm going to abort and I say "no". The baby doesn't have the fault of what his father did. On October 23, 2007 I give birth of my baby it's a boy. They take him to a foster house because I'm in jail. Three years later I'm looking for my child but they tell me a couple adopted him. I asked them who but they couldn’t tell me. My friend Penelope calls me to help her with something. She tells me if I can babysit her brother because she has to go to work. I ask her about him she tells me he's adopted. I ask he the child's birthday, name, parents. He tells me he was born in October 23, 2007 his name is Luke and tells me that I'm his mother. I finally found my son after a year looking for him. Luke is about to be 5 years old I love him a lot.
